Craftsman Coffee "Reserve Blend" 12oz
Straight shot shooters will enjoy a tarty lemon acidity tempered by cocoa. We love this as it feels like we are tasting into a dark chocolate bar with mixed berry, and citrus notes. This is a crowd pleaser across all brew methods.
This is the rockstar child of our African single origins! Guji from Wodesa Yachisi. Kayanza from Shembatti Washing station by Salum Ramadhan. Nyeri from Pearless Estate.
We did not have intentions of selecting an organic green this year, but if we did and the tasting was spectacular we would pick it up in a heartbeat. This Ethiopia Guji natural was one of the few available in 2019 and we are lucky it was something we were able to stumble upon. Managed by Wodesa Yachisis of Mormora Coffee Plantation PLC, it is a 250 acre farm along with other family owned farms located near the plantation. Mormora collaborates with local elementary school and has helped with construction of two local roads. Wodesa and his team control processing from drying up until the final export stage.
Salum Ramadhan established the Coffee Processing Company (CPC) in 2010 and operates 4 washing stations in Kayanza. All stations reflect Salum’s passion for coffee and his commitment to his community. Lots are meticulously separated fully traceable to harvest date and washing station. Each lot is classified through a strict protocol that includes hand sorting and floating the cherry. Salum pays well above the government minimum for cherry and pays farmers extra to sort cherry. He also encourages the farmers keep and process unused cherry for personal consumption or to sell in the local market. Salum has a nursery program to distribute seedlings to farmers. He has also been paying to build additional classroom to alleviate problems with overcrowding in the schools.
Pearless Estate is one of the oldest and largest plantations in Kenya and in the famed Nyeri County. A quality-focused farm owned by the late Mugwimi Wachira. Estate Manager Martin Njau operates the farm with a keen sensitivity towards quality, social and environmental awareness. The estate is committed to high worker standards and supports its permanent and 20 plus seasonal employees with regular training on advanced safety and processing methods, along with education on good farming practices. The estate has been recognized for its leading standards and was awarded the CAFE certification in November, 2017.
