General Manager - Santa Cruz

Traveler is looking for a full time (32-40hrs) General Manager to lead and oversee our Santa Cruz location on 41st Ave.

The role of the General Manager is to run a steady and solid retail operation while maintaining and growing the Surf Club services. 

This person should be passionate about building community through day to day interactions with customers, members, and potential customers. This person should have sales experience along with event programming experience and is not afraid to think outside the box. They are a naturally positive person and will be an ambassador for Traveler both in and out of the water.

The roles and responsibilities are broken down into 2 sections:

1. Roles & Responsibilities of the Coastal Outpost (retail) Operations

  • Customer service
  • Receive, process, merchandise incoming inventory orders
  • Handle scheduling for our small staff, approve timesheets
  • Alert buyer when stock is low for reorders
  • Keep the shop tidy, well merchandised 
  • Handle curve balls, item exchanges with grace and ease

2. Roles & Responsibilities of the Surf Club (services) Operations

  • Grow and maintain the Traveler Surf Club memberships 
  • Grow and maintain our demo board and surf coaching program
  • Develop authentic and genuine connections with members
  • Build Surf Club programming & member engagement 
  • Ensure all retail staff are experts at onboarding new members
  • Maintain facilities including yard and all equipment, manage ding repairs
  • Track and analyze Surf Club P&L and KPIs
  • Surf consistently and have familiarity with local breaks and surf community

  • Come with sales experience and have genuine stoke for connecting with people and building relationships that convert to long time customers
  • Problem solver, comes with ideas and solutions and able to roll up sleeves to implement them
  • Self motivated and can work the shop solo, while leading a team who is also very independent
  • Great communication skills
  • Great admin skills, proficient with google spreadsheets, can create and analyzing simple KPI reports
  • Comfortable working in website recurring charge apps (no coding or technical skill required)
  • Value being able to surf for work on a weekly basis
