This May our Santa Cruz Team is offering a 3 part Land Lesson series that will cover topics related to better understanding the tools that surfers use to catch more waves and be happy. The course is designed for all levels and the staff's deep knowledge of surf craft, wave dynamics and water wisdom is relevant and relatable to beginner and advanced surfers alike.
Sunday May 15th- Session 1. Experience & Etiquette
Be a part of positive change in and out of the water. Having a good understanding of surf etiquette, culture and history is the foundation to having a more safe and joyful experience when riding waves. Surfing in a crowded lineup can be daunting, and knowing the rules of the road will make the shared experience seem less chaotic and easier to catch the waves that are best for you.
Sunday May 22nd -Session 2. Board Dynamics
Get a grip on your board! Ever wonder what the difference is between a pintail and a square tail board, or why certain fin set ups are better for different types of conditions and performance goals? This Session focuses on building understanding surfboard outlines and technical aspects to maximize your fun out in the water. Whether you want to learn more about your current equipment or are in the market to build your quiver, you'll learn about the different shapes and styles of boards to choose from.
Sunday May 29th- Session 3. Reading Waves
"Learn to read the ocean better. A big part of my success has been wave knowledge." - Kelly Slater. We couldn't agree with Kelly more. Reading the ocean is essential to your surf practice. Knowing where to be when surfing a spot is an important part of improving your surf skills. Come learn how to understand the way the sea ebbs and flows, forms waves, and harnesses energy.
