This 1.5 hour class series is designed to give an overview and introduction to surfing at the beginner level. In this two-part classroom program you will learn:
Session 1: Intro to Reading and Riding Waves: In this lesson we will cover ocean safety and how to read weather and tide conditions. We'll discuss the lifecycle of a wave and how to choose and catch the best wave for you. We'll talk about different types of surf breaks and the best locations to paddle out in the area for beginners. Next, we'll demonstrate paddle positioning, catching waves, and pop-up stance. This class will involve some movement in place.
Session 2: Etiquette & Equipment: This class will cover one of the most important aspects of surfing: the rules of the road. Being safe, having fun, and successfully catching waves has a lot to do with knowing how to navigate the lineup. Getting down with the dos and don'ts of dropping in and board control make having fun in the water easier and more joyful. Additionally, we will discuss the best type of equipment that you will need to be successful as you progress in your surfing. We'll go over the basics of fins, boards, and all the gear that will help you get the most out of your journey..
