East Side Surf Guide (Intermediate) - Santa Cruz
Santa Cruz’s “East Side” is a neighborhood jam-packed with world class surf breaks. There are over 10 spots walkable from our 41st Avenue Traveler location that vary in difficulty from beginner to expert. Our East Side Surf Guide program is an offering for intermediate to advanced independent surfers who are searching for an introduction and understanding of the area’s diverse waves.
With the purchase of an East Side Surf Guide session, you’ll receive a 1 hour private session with a local expert that will break down how to effectively approach, forecast and surf the breaks from Capitola to Pleasure Point and beyond.
Your guide will review the East Side break options on the day of your lesson and give you insight into which break is best for the day as well as characteristics of other spots and conditions.
Your guide may choose to spend more time on land, or paddle out with you at the best spot for that time. Total time spent with the guide is 1 Hr, but you may choose to extend your time in the water and surf on your own beyond the session.
Please Note: This session is different from beginner lessons! The East Side Surf Guide Sessions are designed for intermediate surfers who are comfortable and independent in the water. (See definitions below) If you are simply new to surfing in the area or a seasoned Santa Cruz surfer looking for deeper insight on local waves then this is the perfect session for you! Surfers who book as individuals or double sessions should both be at the independent/ intermediate level.
