Surf Land Lessons with Joan Newby

Beginner Land Lesson Series
Location: TSC, Santa Cruz
Date: Thursday Evenings in April and May
Time: 5:30-6:30pm

This Land Lesson series features the wisdom of Santa Cruz, local legend and coach Joan Newby (Bush). Joan will walk beginner surfers through the many complex hurdles you experience as a new surfer. With her decades of experience, Joan has witnessed and lived through the many incarnations of the surf culture here in Santa Cruz.

Joan's experience and guidance will give beginner and intermediate surfers alike a strong foundation, confidence, and skills to progress with confidence in the Santa Cruz surf scene.

What to expect:

This is a multi part classroom series held at Traveler Surf Club, Santa Cruz! A series of Land Lessons, Followed by a Finals Paddle Out to celebrate all of the acquired knowledge and community. The sessions encourage open Q&A, so come with questions and prepare to be inspired to paddle out on your own or with friends after the session.
