Fall/Winter Season: Preparation for Beginner Surfers
April will be your guide as we illuminate how changing weather conditions interact with our local surf breaks. Gain insights on surf forecasting to make informed decisions before you paddle out. Prioritize safety, find tips to improve your skills and move you forward in your surf journey! April is a longtime local surfer and surf instructor for beginner and intermediate students. The goal is to share the stoke and create a community of ocean loving, connected watermen and women.

Beginner Basics
Part 1: The first section will be spent discussing Ocean Safety at Linda Mar Beach. This will cover learning how to read weather and ocean conditions, including tides, currents, wind, and potential hazards in the water. April will share some tools to use in predicting the conditions so you can make an educated decision about when to surf. She will discuss the different waves that break at Linda Mar Beach and what makes the break differently. She will also guide attendees on where the best beginner spots are and on how to choose the best beginner conditions. We will also cover Reading and Riding Waves with an emphasis on etiquette in the water. April will review the lifecycle of a wave and how to choose and catch the best wave for you.
Part 2: The next section will focus on paddle positioning, catching waves, and pop-up stance, and dismounts. This section includes demonstrations and practice for those interested in participating
